basic top, styled 5 ways

I get asked frequently about my favorite basic tops to wear and style. While I have several favorite brands of quality, elevated basics that can be dressed both up and down, my favorite brand, to date, is Goldie.

Goldie takes the idea of a basic tee and gives it something extra. Maybe its a puff sleeve, a trendy detail or a cool print, but the brand never fails to deliver a quality product (that is super soft, may I add).

I recently got this long sleeved black tee with a metallic neckline; the price of these tops are affordable, but still expensive (around $98). So, I like to consider at least 3 ways I could potentially style an item before I commit to a purchase. With this top, I could instantly think of 5 ways to style it.

It is a perfect top to wear with jeans and sneakers for errands or lunch with friends during the week, or birthday parties with the kids on the weekends. Instead of wearing blue denim, I like to mix things up with a neutral denim color, like this on-trend army green pair of distressed jeans (similar)

This top looks super cute with a pair of black joggers as well. If you follow me, you know how much I LOVE my Lulu Lemon align joggers. Being able to wear them with this top makes them a little less casual (or gym-ish) and more work appropriate (maybe for a Friday). Since the top and pants are both black, I decided to break up this monochromatic look with an oversized denim jacket. I love being able to layer, now that it’s fall.

As casual as this top may seem, when you pair in with skinny black denim, black boots and a leather jacket, the style is immediately elevated. This look is great for a night out on the weekend, especially as the weather gets cooler.

Blazers are a true fall/winter staple for me. They add a level of sophistication to any basic outfit. I love the idea of matching the silver metallic neckline on this top to the silver studs on this statement belt (similar, here and here). This basic look is super chic and can be worn to work, to lunch, while traveling or even out to dinner! (click here for my blazer)

And yet, despite all of the options available for this top, sometimes jeans and sneakers are the way to go.

Shop some of my favorite Goldie tops and let me know how you decide to style yours! {as a reference, I usually wear a size small in most of the Goldie tops, unless they run on the larger side or are a looser fit, in which case I would take an XS. I don’t like things that are too tight or too short}.
